CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — While Blue Origin continues repairing Launch Complex 36 after the pad was damaged earlier this year during a New Glenn static fire test, the company is already preparing for its next phase of growth on the Space Coast.
Blue Origin has broken ground on a new 120,000-square-foot Payload Processing Facility at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
The facility will include four large payload processing bays, two encapsulation bays and four additional bays for multi-manifest processing.
It will support both commercial and national security missions and is designed to handle up to 16 missions a year.
Dr. Don Platt of Florida Tech says the investment signals Blue Origin is preparing to handle larger payloads for its New Glenn rocket and could support the company’s plans for a future low-Earth-orbit constellation known as Amazon LEO.
The new facility is expected to open in early 2028.
