OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — State troopers are investigating a deadly crash in Osceola County.

It happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of South Poinciana Boulevard and Woodmont Boulevard in Poinciana.

Florida Highway Patrol said the crash involved two cars and a total of four people.

Investigators believe that the driver of Kia Forte, traveling east on Woodmont Boulevard, proceeded from a stop sign and failed to yield to a Honda Accord that was traveling southbound on Poinciana Boulevard.

Troopers said the front of the Honda struck the left side of the Kia. The driver and two passengers of the Kia were rushed to Osceola Regional Medical Center. A back seat passenger died. She was 55, of Kissimmee, FHP said. Officials said the driver and a front seat passenger, both 24, of Kissimmee, suffered serious injuries.

The Honda’s driver, 39, of Kissimmee, was also taken to Osceola Regional Hospital. Troopers said his injuries were minor.

Troopers shut down a stretch of the southbound lanes of Poinciana Boulevard for several hour Thursday morning.

The road has since reopened.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
