FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A man died early Friday after two SUVs collided with him along Interstate 95 in Flagler County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers responded to the crash near mile marker 289 in Palm Coast shortly after 3 a.m.
FHP said the man was standing on the outside shoulder of the road along the northbound lanes of I-95.
Investigators said for an unknown reason, the pedestrian walked onto the roadway, causing a Nissan Rogue and a Ford Edge to collide with him in the outside travel lane.
The man died at the crash scene, troopers said. They did not release his name but said he was a resident of New York City, age 20.
The drivers of the SUVs, from Virginia and Pennsylvania, were uninjured, officials said.
The deadly crash slowed northbound traffic along Interstate 95 for several hours, but all lanes reopened around 9 a.m.
