OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — State troopers are investigating a crash that killed a teenager early Tuesday in St. Cloud.
It happened around 1:20 a.m. along US-192, also known as Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway.
The crash involved a Suzuki motorcycle and a Toyota Corolla sedan, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Investigators said the motorcyclist, 16, of Orlando, was driving on Botanic Boulevard, exiting a subdivision onto US-192, when he lost control of his bike.
FHP said the motorcycle crossed over the paved median and onto the eastbound lanes of US-192, where it traveled into the direct path of the oncoming Toyota.
The car struck the motorcycle and the teen was thrown from the bike. The bike traveled off the roadway but the rider came to rest on the eastbound lanes of US-192, troopers said.
Investigators also said that an unknown vehicle might have stuck the teen while he was down on the roadway.
Troopers could not provide a description of the second vehicle that was possibly involved after the initial crash, but are asking anyone with information to contact FHP at 407-737-2213 or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS.
The driver of the Toyota, 42, of Palm Bay, was not hurt, officials said.
Troopers shut down the eastbound lanes of US-192 for several hours to investigate the crash, but reopened the road late Tuesday morning.
