VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Fort Lauderdale man was arrested after an armed carjacking in Daytona Beach Shores, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Grant Hagood-James carjacked a driver at gunpoint at the intersection of South Peninsula and Demotte Avenue and drove off.
The stolen vehicle was later discovered abandoned near Seaway Avenue and South Peninsula, according to a report.
Following the carjacking, multiple 911 calls reported a man matching Hagood-James’s description swimming near Deck Down Under.
After an extensive search, Hagood-James was located approximately 50 yards from Deck Down Under, hiding in the mangroves, deputies said.
Hagood-James was taken into custody without incident, and no injuries were reported during the event
