Photos show massive damage at crash site that shut down I-95 in Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — An overnight crash caused major traffic issues Wednesday on I-95 in Volusia County.

11:30 a.m. update:

Crews are still working to clean up the mess left behind from a major crash on I-95 in Volusia County.

Troopers confirmed two northbound lanes have reopened, but all southbound lanes are shut down.

The extended closure is due to a fire that broke out at the crash site as crews were working to repair a damaged guardrail.

Troopers share several photos of the crash damage.

6 a.m. update:

Traffic is slowing and moving in the area, with one lane open on each side of the interstate highway.

Crews are still working to clear the debris in the roadway.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and use extra caution.

A major crash has Interstate 95 shut down in Volusia County.

The crash happened around 4:24 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near mile marker 235.

The crash has all lanes closed in the area.

Crews appear to be out trying to clear debris on both sides of the interstate.

It’s unclear how many vehicles were involved and how long the closure will be in place.
