Officials say a Ford E-350 van crashed somewhere around 7:38 pm on the turnpike.
Five fatalities have been confirmed, and multiple occupants have been airlifted to area hospitals.
Officials have started moving traffic to the shoulder to reopen.

All Northbound traffic has been shut down due to a vehicle crash on the turnpike.
All lanes have been closed, and drivers are advised to find another route.
Teams are inbound to airlift patients out of the area.
