I can’t go a single day without talking about tariffs — not just the impact they’ll have on industries like construction and housing, but which tariffs are or aren’t in play.

At least for right now, the confusion around federal trade policy is almost causing industries more headaches than the tariffs themselves — though price increases are already being observed for key materials, as I get into in today’s lead story.

Construction firms like Bast Hatfield in Clifton Park, New York, say they’re having to move quickly to procure materials needed for their projects. And instead of guaranteeing a price for the typical 30 to 60 days on materials like structural steel or aluminum window frames, subcontractors and vendors are instead holding quotes for shorter periods as a hedge against higher prices charged by suppliers and manufacturers, reports Mike DeMasi at the Albany Business Review.....
