ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — State troopers confirm there was a fatal crash on Interstate 95 Monday afternoon.
The wreck happened at approximately 1:42 p.m.. Troopers say a Honda CR-V was traveling northbound in the center lane south of U.S. Highway 1 in Ormond Beach when a box truck on the outside shoulder tried to merge back into the northbound lanes.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, witnesses said the Honda swerved toward the outside shoulder and struck the truck’s rear.
A passenger in the Honda, a woman, died at the scene. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The box truck’s driver was not hurt and remained on scene.
This crash remains under investigation.
