Search for Nancy Guthrie: FBI releases surveillance photos, video

TUCSON, Ariz. — After more than a week of no apparent leads, the FBI released photos and videos showing a potential “subject” in the case of missing woman, Nancy Guthrie.

Update 1:54 p.m. ET, Feb. 10: NBC News and CNN noted what can be seen and what isn’t in the videos and images.

The video shows a person walking to the door with their head down. The person had on a full ski mask with only eye and mouth cutouts. They have heavy gloves and a jacket zipped to the top of the neck. No logos or markings can be seen on the clothing or the backpack.

No vehicle is seen nearby, but it could be on the street out of the camera’s view.

Patel said the individual was armed and it appears that they have a holster in their front waistband, CNN reported.

Update 1:39 p.m. ET, Feb. 10: “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie reposted the images to Instagram, writing a message that read, “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home.”

Update 1:16 p.m. ET, Feb. 10: FBI Director Kash Patel has shared additional images and video captured at the front door of Guthrie’s home.

Update 12:57 p.m. ET, Feb. 10: The FBI released the photos showing a person wearing a mask and tampering with a camera.

FBI Director Kash Patel said the images were from a video “recovered from residual data located in backend systems.” Patel said the person was armed.

Original report: NBC News reported that the photo may be released as soon as Tuesday afternoon, according to two senior law enforcement officials.

The image shows a person wearing a mask and carrying a backpack or tools, CNN and NBC News reported.

Earlier, the FBI said it had no suspects or persons of interest in the case, CNN reported.

More details of the final hours before Guthrie’s apparent kidnapping are coming to light.

That includes clarification on the church service that she had planned to attend.

CNN reported she was not going to the service in person; rather, she was expected to watch the livestream with friends at a home nearby. When she didn’t come as planned, one of her friends contacted her family.

Guthrie’s family reported her missing around noon on Feb. 1, NBC News reported. She was last seen the night before, having dinner at the home of her daughter, Annie Guthrie, in Tucson, Arizona, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office said.

Her other daughter, “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie, has released several videos pleading for the return of her mother, including a solo one released on Monday that said that she believed her mother was “still out there” and asked for help finding her 84-year-old mother.

“We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help,” she said.
